About the faculty

The basis of this faculty is the mathematics department, which was formed in 1353 with the help of professors in order to improve the post-graduate education process of the country. After the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and in 1366, by accepting students in the field of applied mathematics, he took an effective step towards the expansion of mathematical knowledge along with its applications at the province and country level.

The mathematics department, which continued its activities in two directions, pure and applied, in 2016 accepted students for the master's degree. Due to the potential abilities that existed in the group, Mazandaran University was successful in training students for the doctoral course in mathematics since 2001. In addition to the efforts made in the mathematics department, the statistics department started its independent activities under the title of statistics department in 2013. Since 1384, this group has succeeded in accepting students in the master's degree. In addition to the aforementioned groups, the computer science department took an effective step in the development of mathematical applications by accepting students from 2013.

With the quantitative and qualitative growth of mathematics, statistics and computer science departments in undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels, the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences officially started in 2019. In 2010, a master's degree in computer science, majoring in computing, was launched in the faculty and it has started accepting students.

In addition to teaching or researching in various branches of mathematics, statistics and computer science, faculty members of the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences play an effective role in promoting mathematical knowledge and its applications by being members of scientific associations and cooperating with them in conducting prestigious seminars and conferences.
